Trip to Tower Bridge and Greenwich

For a change this time its not Shankar, but myself Purnima who wanted to write this blog. Our next weekend trip was to the famous Tower Bridge and Greenwich. Being the fourth time to visit Greenwich Shankar was no less than a trained guide for his parents.
We started off to see the Tower Bridge and then headed over to Greewich to see the Prime Meridian of the world.

It was a dream come true for me to have a snap on the Tower Bridge
On the way to Tower Bridge we also saw the Tower of London which is said to be built in a span of 400 years by the kings and queens of England.
However amma was quite exited to visit Greenwich. She took interest to click some shots herself and told that she would show it to her classmates of Astrology class back home. I guess this place holds such importance. At lunch we had our routine but delicious puli sadam and tayir sadam. Appa also had the oppurtunity to have his afternoon nap at the Greenwich park.

The interesting thing in this trip was that we reached our destination in all kinds of train travel available in London viz the national rail, Tube rail and the DLR.

We enjoyed our return trip on a cruise on Thames river. All in all it was a tiring yet memorable trip.

Nice post, Purnima; and, with the kind of masala - puliyodarai picnic and Govindan's nap in the park - that makes it an entertaining read.
Would like to learn more about Greenwich, the place from where the global standard time - GMT - is measures. Have never been there during my three years of living in London in mid-60s.
