Gautam is at his best mood when he is with his mother.
There is no place like grandpa's lap for a snooze. Seven-month old Gautam went through the ceremony, sleeping, says his mother. 'It was fun to watch him sleep nicely', as the rest of the family fussed over him to be able to participate in the ritual feeding of the child. 
Gautam's other grandpa and Uma's dad, Govindan, can be seen watching the proceedings over Uma's shoulders.
Saranya, Uma's elder one, was the birthday girl in the gathering; maybe she is a bit tiny for a saree, if that is what she is seen wearing. Anyway, Saranya cut the cake on the occasion of her kid brother's annaprasham, though her birthday was on Dec.3.
They make a companionable pair, don't they - Gautam and Saranya.On her birthday, Dec.3, Saranya had pizza, as special treat. Today's kids love junk food.
I don't suppose they serve pizza at the temple feeding ceremony. Besides, the dish, of foreign orgin, would be alien to plantain leaf in which Palghat Brahmins serve traditional food. And Saranya's old fashioned grand-parents - at Ber serai and Janakpuri - would not have relished pizza. Gautam's father Rajesh gets his chance to feed his kid (see photo). I reckon he does it all the time at home.

Customary snap of the guests at the ceremony. Grandma Bhagya is seen holding the kid. Earlier each one in the photo, nearly everyone, had a chance to feed Gautam (in a silver spoon?).
Saranya had special reason to be happy. She had cake and pizza as well for birthday. Her parents, along with Gautam went to Saranya's school to pick her up on Dec.3. "She was thrilled to see us", said Uma,"and then, we all went to a mall in Noida for lunch at Pizza Hut".

Not sure if Saranya was thrilled for the Pizza, but her mother would have been very thrilled. No wonder, the whole family went to Pizza Hut..
